On May 15, 2015, we celebrated our 50th anniversary. Reason enough for our guests and those who want to be, to give a brief historical insight into the history of our pension!
1963
Wedding of Johann Hassler sen., Trained mason, geb. 1939 and Annemarie Weiß, trained confectioner, born. 1942. One day after the wedding, the construction of the coffee house in Mar Anger began.
1964
Hannes is born in June.
1964
In November, Annemarie takes her master exam.
1965
On May 15, the coffee-pastry-bed and breakfast pension will be opened. Six guest rooms with shared shower on the 1st floor were available – the price of the pension: 23 shillings.
1967
The first washing machine is purchased. (Incredible!)
1968
Thanks to the self-construction of a cold room could now be served open beer. Price for a pint: 3 shillings
1968
The operating vehicle, a motorcycle Puch 250 was replaced by a car, a Fiat 2000.
1971
Expansion of the 2nd floor, all 6 rooms are equipped with private shower. Reconstruction of the wood-coke heating to a modern oil heating. (1971 the first oil heating in the area!)
1975
Purchase of the adjacent Konsumhaus (converted into a private house in 1998). In this old building were common cooling systems in which 64 Berger households could freeze delicacies. (This refrigeration plant was dissolved in 1982)
1977
The terrace is being built.
1978
Completion of the restaurant under the terrace. (This room was also used for rehearsal purposes of the Trachtenkapelle under the 42-year-management of host Johann)
1979
Beginning of the pastry teaching of son Hannes in Spittal an der Drau.
1985
Hannes starts work in the family business and passes the concession exam.
1986
In autumn, Hannes, the youngest confectioner in Carinthia, takes the master’s examination.
1987
Conversion of all rooms to comfort rooms.
1988
Entry of the “young” boss Christa.
1990
Birth of John.
1990/91
Construction of an extension (garage, storage, new big bakery and 2 rooms). Total renovation and extension and modernization of the premises in a contemporary café.
1991
Wedding of Christa and Hannes.
1991
Relocation of Annemarie and Johann Hassler to the new private house (Schmiedhaus).
1993
Birth of Armin.
1998
Business transfer to Hannes.
Since 1998 many repairs and renovations have been carried out: renewal of the heating system, replacement of all windows, renewal and construction of the reception, renovation of the roof, purchase of new bathrooms and second floor installations, renovation of the balcony, renewal of the terrace with glass windscreen …
